Nothing brings about a good old racist discussion than casting a film adaptation of a beloved book. So went the bru-ha-ha with Amandla Stenberg, who played Rue in The Hunger Games, and now fans are up in arms over the casting of…
People bitching about this sexy guy being cast as Finnick Odair.
May the crabs of 1000 whores infect your vaginas because okay, he doesn’t look like Finnick in the books. So? Who cares? Not everything in a film adaption has to be completely perfect. Jennier Lawrence didn’t look like a…
Jesse Williams is fucking perfection. So if he wants the Finnick part then so be it. It's up to the directors and producers and what not about who they choose. So you racist 'fans' you bring fucking SHAME upon this beautiful Hunger Games Fandom. Seriously grow up, did no one teach you it's not the outside that counts it's the inside? watch yourself.
Basically white fangirls out there are mad again about the possibility of a non white playing there precious Finnick Odair. They all wanted some cliche white actor who probably can’t act to play him. They were looking for the next Taylor Lautner in Finnick. They wanted there next white boy to…
I LOVE this blog and I'm behind #JesseforFinnick 100%, if only to see this racist fandom shit itself. They're doing mental acrobatics trying to give a rational explanation for why he shouldn't be cast. So yeah, just wanted to show my appreciation :D
Just came here from Jezebel article mentioning this. I have to say, to anyone saying "Tan skin means he must be white" I'm half-black/half-white. I've had my skintone described as "tan" all the time by people of various races.
So I actually cannot understand the shitstorm over the ethnicity of actors in The Hunger Games. There’s no part of me that can empathise with, or even understand, the mindset of people that has led to all these freak outs.
Now everyone is going psycho over Jesse Williams potentially being cast…
First, there was the racist backlash to Lenny’s casting of Cinna, a role which he portrayed flawlessly. Then the absolute bullshit responses poor Amandla got for Rue (“I wasn’t sad when Rue died because she was black”). I understand these children are too incompetent to understand how blatantly…
Hey. Remember when it was rumored Josh was gonna be Peeta. And he got it. And we hated it and we couldn't possibly live with it. And then we did. And then some of us grew to love him. And others grew to fangirl the everloving fuck out of him.
Tumblr, I have been doing some thinking! I have been thinking about Finnick Odair, who I really don’t normally think about even if this post might lead you to think otherwise! But I read this very short and harmless post on E! Online yesterday (comment 11 is mine), and then I read the many comments (the egregiously gross and racist ones have been removed since I read them, but they were really what made me think about this all day today), and I have been thinking about writing this post ever since.
First, fair warning: I am an enormous Jesse Williams fan and this is coloring my thoughts on this subject at the moment because some (but not all!) people are reacting pretty poorly to the idea of him potentially even being considered to play Finnick in the upcoming Catching Fire movie. I am going to try to step back and not hate on other people’s opinions, since this post is ABOUT opinions and isn’t even really going to be entirely a Hunger Games post, anyway, but it is really hard. Sorry I am not very sorry about that.
That said: I’d like to talk, today, about Finnick Odair, Edward Cullen, and maybe some other characters* (especially dude characters) whose whole lives are defined by their pretty faces, and how I imagine that affects their casting in film adaptations and their place in fandom. IDK. I’m writing this kind of on the fly and I’m not even really sure what the thesis is yet. We’ll find out.
the racist shit popping up because he is now actually, you know, getting backing from media outlets and being established as a fan favorite for being cast as finnick is gross as fuck. why do people tag their hate? i went in to a) read rumors about the casting process and b) stare at his beautiful face, not read your bullshit opinions.
sorry but he’s hotter than your faves and i can’t wait to bathe in your racist tears if he gets cast.
Can the racist Hunger Games “fans” realize that not everyone is going to be cast white? Yes, there are attactive and beautiful people of color too. They’re having a fit over the new Finnick Odair casting. Jesse Williams is perfect, suck my hijab.
Jesse Williams was not at all who I had in mind when I read Catching Fire/Mockingjay, but now I kind of want him to be cast as Finnick because of the shit storm it will undoubtedly cause. And because Jesse is really, really pretty and would actually be kind of perfect. I love the idea of Jesse as Finnick.
